Planning your BBs for game day
- Bring more than you think. Running dry mid-game is no fun, and most sites sell BBs at a premium.
- Check the site rules. Many UK outdoor sites require biodegradable BBs, and some sell their own BBs only.
- Use a speed loader to refill mid-caps quickly between games.
- Keep BBs dry and clean. Damp or dirty BBs jam magazines and damage hop-up rubbers.

How many BBs are in a 1kg bag?
About 4,000 with 0.25g BBs, 5,000 with 0.20g, 3,571 with 0.28g and 3,333 with 0.30g. Divide 1,000 by the BB weight in grams to get the count for any weight.
How many BBs do I need for a game day?
Most players using mid-cap magazines get through roughly 1,000 to 2,000 BBs in a full day. Support gunners and hi-cap users can fire several thousand, while snipers may use only a few hundred. A 1kg bag of 0.25g BBs is enough for most first game days.
How many BBs does a mid-cap magazine hold?
Mid-cap AEG magazines usually hold 100 to 140 BBs, real-cap magazines about 30, and hi-caps 300 or more. Gas pistol magazines typically hold 15 to 30.
Are heavier BBs better value?
Heavier BBs give you fewer rounds per kilogram, so a 1kg bag of 0.30g BBs holds a sixth fewer than a bag of 0.25g. Compare bags by cost per 1,000 BBs, not by weight, using the calculator above. Pick the weight that suits your gun first, though: the right BB matters more than saving a few pence.
Do biodegradable BBs weigh the same?
